Hi, my name is Laura
(and I hoard books)
I live in Western Washington, married to my college sweetheart and dwelling in a forest home with our three sons, ever-hungry golden retriever, and ball-obsessed goldendoodle. While not originally from this area, I’ve lived here long enough that I could happily drink coffee like water and legitimately miss the rain if we’ve been blessed with blue skies for too long. You can easily capture my heart with Pad Thai, thrift store shopping sprees, and — of course — new books.
My lifelong love affair with books began when I was a young child, and I’m thrilled to have rediscovered this same love of reading as an adult. Thanks to the joys of audiobooks (yes, audiobooks do count as reading and I will die on that hill), I happily gobble my way through 200+ books a year while wearing my other hats as mom, wife, daughter (hello, fellow sandwich generation warriors), and professional bookseller.
I am truly grateful that my professional roles have provided me with the opportunity to support parents, schools, daycares, children’s hospitals, and other organizations. Together, we can support early literacy and learning to create stronger futures for our children and our community.
I’m passionate about what books do for children — and for adults — and I hope that your visit to this site will help you spark a new blaze of book joy in your own home. Thank you for being here, and happy reading!
Curious what I’m reading today?
“Read the best books first, or you may not have a chance to read them at all.”
